How Apple and Google Will Destroy AI Hardware Companies?
From the Humane AI pin to the recently announced Rabbit R1, new AI hardware is coming out every few weeks.

Why are they generating so much buzz?
The simple answer: fixing a pain point.
By pain point, I mean we have had voice assistants in our smartphones for over a decade, yet they are pretty useless. These assistants can not answer even simple tasks, let alone handle complex queries.
However, advancements in AI over the past year, particularly in large language models like ChatGPT, are threatening smartphone companies.
AI gadgets are capitalising on the idea of these LLMs, by using transformer models to address the issues with voice assistants.
But, these AI gadgets have a big hurdle in front of them: Apple and Google. Both companies are rapidly incorporating their own LLM’s. Once they catch up with these new startups, the AI hardware companies can become redundant.
I do understand people want to use their phones less yet still access a voice assistant, play music or talk to their loved ones, we already have smartwatches like the Apple Watch or Pixel Watch for that purpose.
So, what do you think? Do AI hardware companies have any future or will smartphones make these VC-backed startups redundant?
